Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Trine Running (SFE, LLC) collects about you, why, who else sees it, and the choices you have. It covers the website and the client portal.

Last updated 17 September 2026 · SFE, LLC

The short version. To coach you, we store your account details, the running clips you upload, and what we find in them. Still frames from your clips and your gait measurements are sent to Anthropic's Claude to draft your report — a coach always reviews it before you see it. We never sell your data. You can ask for a copy or for deletion at any time by emailing scott@trinerunning.com.

1. Who we are

SFE, LLC, trading as Trine Running, a limited liability company registered in Oklahoma, United States. We are the data controller for the information described here.

Post: 2812 Northeast 133rd Street, Edmond, Oklahoma 73013, United States
Email: scott@trinerunning.com

For people in the European Economic Area, our Article 27 representative is [EU REPRESENTATIVE — to be appointed]. In the United Kingdom it is [UK REPRESENTATIVE — to be appointed].

2. What we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details: your name, email address and a password (stored only as a cryptographic hash — we never see it).
  • Running clips: the video you upload, normally one filmed from the side and one from behind.
  • Anything you tell your coach: injury history, goals, mileage, and messages you send us.
  • Enquiries: the name, email and message you submit through the contact form.

Information created by using the service

  • Gait measurements calculated from your clips — cadence, stride and knee symmetry, hip drop, trunk lean, foot strike.
  • Draft and published coaching reports, and your coach's notes.
  • Subscription status, billing history and invoices.
  • Basic technical records such as IP address and browser type, used to keep the service running and secure.

What we never see

Your full card number never reaches us. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe; we receive only a confirmation, the last four digits and the billing details you give them.

3. Your running clips are sensitive, and treated that way

Video of your body, together with injury history, can reveal information about your health. Under European and UK law that is a “special category” of personal data needing stronger protection, and we treat it that way everywhere, not only in Europe.

  • Your clips are stored privately. Access is enforced at the database level: you can see only your own, and your coach can see only their own clients'.
  • We ask for your explicit consent before you upload, and you can withdraw it at any time.
  • We do not use your clips for advertising, and we do not use them to train any AI model.
  • We will not publish or share a clip of you — for marketing, teaching or any other purpose — without asking you separately first.

4. How your report is drafted, and the part AI plays

When your coach analyses a session, a small number of still frames from your clip and your gait measurements are sent to Anthropic's Claude, which drafts a written summary. Your name, email and account details are not sent.

A draft is never published automatically. Your coach reads, edits and approves every report before it appears in your portal. The AI assists the coach; it does not decide anything about you, and nothing about your coaching is decided by automated means alone.

Anthropic processes this data on our instructions and does not use it to train its models. If you would prefer your clips were not processed this way, email us and we will analyse your session without it.

5. Why we are allowed to use your information

Where European or UK law applies, our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (providing coaching and taking payment); your explicit consent (for clips and the health information in them); our legitimate interests (keeping the service secure and improving it); and legal obligations (tax and accounting records).

6. Who else processes your data

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We use these providers to run the service:

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to establish or defend legal claims.

7. Where your data is held

We are based in the United States and our providers store data there. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, your information is transferred outside your country. We rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, and the UK Addendum, as the safeguard for those transfers. You can ask us for a copy of the arrangements.

8. How long we keep it

  • Clips, findings and reports: for as long as your account is active, and for 12 months after it closes.
  • Billing and invoice records: 7 years, as tax and accounting rules require.
  • Contact-form enquiries: 24 months.

You can ask us to delete your clips sooner at any time, and we will unless we are required to keep something for accounting reasons.

9. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or stop using it in a particular way — including withdrawing consent for the AI drafting described above. Email scott@trinerunning.com and we will respond within 30 days. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights.

In the EEA or UK you may also object to processing, ask for your data in a portable format, and complain to your national data protection authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office.

10. Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, and there is no tracking across other websites — which is why you are not being asked to accept a cookie banner. If that ever changes, we will ask for your consent first.

11. Children

This service is for adults. It is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

12. Security, and its limits

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is restricted at the database level, and payment details never touch our systems. No service can promise perfect security, but if a breach affects your personal data we will notify you and the relevant authority as the law requires.

13. Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell you by email before anything significant takes effect.
